Your Fall 2020 Makeup Guide: Shop These 6 Must-Haves for a Simple, Shimmery Look

No surprise here: I love fall. The temperatures are cooling off, the gorgeous autumn leaves are falling, and it’s absolutely beautiful outside—aka, the perfect time for my kids and I to hit up every pumpkin patch we can find! Plus, choosing their Halloween costumes makes for an exciting time (even though it changes *at least* three times before a decision is made). And let’s not forget the iconic fall treats: pumpkin cookies, warm lattes, apple crisp—there’s so much to love.

Best of all? Trying new autumn-worthy fashion and beauty trends, of course!

If you’re anything like me, you’re pretty minimal with your makeup routine, so switching things up every season is essential for keeping things exciting and fresh. That’s why I searched high and low for the latest fall launches to give you that simple, clean, shimmery look. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed!

Ready to dive in? Sit back in your comfy chair with your PSL in hand, and keep scrolling for the most perfect, minimal fall makeover.

1. Balm Dotcom in Wild Fig // Glossier ($12)

This universal skin salve is Glossier’s cult fave, do-everything lip balm—and it just dropped in a fun fall flavor: Wild Fig! This hydrating lip balm is packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to keep your lips soft and flavorful this autumn (and well into winter).

2. Liquid Powder Chromatic Eye Tint in Fresco // ILIA ($28)

This highly pigmented, water-based and smudge-proof eyeshadow glides on like a cream, but dries like a powder. For those of us who are makeup minimalists, it swipes on effortlessly without creasing and comes in subtle, shimmery shades that are perfect for the fall. My favorites? Fresco and Glaze, hands-down.

3. High Fidelity Foundation // Exa Beauty ($38)

This vegan, gluten-free foundation is a combination of advanced pigment technology and anti-pollution skin actives that feels light going on and lasts all day. It combines hydrating, plumping and pollution-fighting ingredients that have buildable coverage and can go from sheer to full coverage, depending on what your skin needs. The best part? It comes in 43 shades, so it’s never been easier to find the perfect match to your skin tone.

4. Supernova Crushed Pure Diamond Highlighter // Aether Beauty ($38)

This innovative highlighter creates the perfect shimmery glow with its ethically sourced diamond powder. Bonus: it helps protect collagen while illuminating your skin with a touch of rosehip seed oil! I love to use their Pure shade as a subtle blush to give my skin that radiant, sparkle finish. Even better? It’s also vegan, cruelty-free and uses recyclable packaging.

5. Glow Drops // Pestle & Mortar ($52)

Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean you have to lose that summer glow. This customizable tanning concentrate is enriched with hydrating hyaluronic acid to deliver the effortless, sun-kissed glow of your dreams (without the harm of actual sunrays!). If you’re a no-makeup gal like me, this is the perfect alternative to foundation. Simply mix a few drops into your moisturizer or daily sunscreen for a natural, radiant look!

6. The Fresh Start Face Oil // Otto Skin Goods ($65)

If you haven’t added a face oil to your routine by now, fall is the perfect time to try it! This lightweight, hydrating blend of nutrient-dense oils (including grapeseed, rose hip, marula and cranberry seed oils) will leave your skin feeling soft and supple, but never greasy or heavy. Infused with 20% vitamin C, it helps repair and even leftover sun damage from the last few months. I love to use this at night, but I also use it as a natural highlighter in the morning—simply tap a touch of the oil into your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, your cupid’s bow and your brow bones.

Whew! I hope these new fall essentials will give your skin some fun and exciting options to mix into your makeup routine. Focus on updating your look this autumn with hydrating options that give your skin a subtle, sparkly glow that wears well either by the campfire or trick-or-treating with your kiddos. The point of makeup is to help you look and feel your best with simplistic, multitasking products that keep your skin glowing all season long.
