These Are the Only Ingredients You Need For Your Daytime Routine

If your mornings are anything like mine, you don’t have time for a complicated daytime skincare routine. Between the dog trying to sneak the kids’ packed lunches, fitting in coffee, as well as something nutritious for breakfast (sadly, halloween candy doesn’t count), and getting out the door to make three drop-offs for four kids all before 8:15 AM—mornings are a chaotic mess. You, too?

Good news! Your skin doesn’t need much to get glowing for the day ahead.

For starters, skip the morning cleanse. Less is more, my friends! I firmly believe if you wash your face before bed to rinse off make-up, dirt and pollution from the day, your complexion doesn’t need more than a splash of water in the AM—even after working out. Turns out, sweating is a natural detoxifying process that’s actually healthy for your skin. As long as I rinse my face with water after a workout to remove excess sweat, I rarely see a breakout.

In terms of skincare, I’m 41 years old and only use two to three products in the morning. Yep, that’s it! Here are the top ingredients I look for in my daytime routine (this combination is truly all you need!):

  1. Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic Acid boosts moisture-retention, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and smooths + softens your skin for the day ahead.
  2. Peptides: Peptides plumps and refresh skin to leave it visibly firmer (Tripeptide-5 has the most research backing).
  3. Vitamin C + Antioxidants: Vitamin C is one of the most potent antioxidants and should be paired with other plant-based antioxidants. Together, both have been shown to help fight pollution and free radical damage—plus, they improve the effectiveness of your sunscreen! (Quick tip: Look for a stabilized Vitamin C derivative such as Glyceryl Ascorbate or Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate.)
  4. Mineral Sunscreen: Look for a mineral-based sunscreen option that combines titanium dioxide and zinc (zinc facial sunscreens alone won’t work that well). Another option is to find a tinted moisturizer or foundation that contains at least SPF 30, just to save a step.

Looking for one product that contains all four of the active ingredients suggested above? Check out our Go-Getter Day Serum below! By simply applying a few drops after splashing your face with cool water, it leaves your skin looking soft and smooth all day long (just add sunscreen!).
